WHO CAN TRANSFER A DOMAIN?
GKG only accepts transfer requests from domain Registrants or the Authorized
Agent of a particular domain Registrant. When requesting a domain transfer,
either the domain Registrant or the domain Registrant's Authorized Agent
must fill out the Automated Transfer Request Form and will be known as
the Transfer Contact.
WHAT INFORMATION IS REQUIRED TO TRANSFER A DOMAIN AND IN WHAT FORMAT?
- The domain name must be provided with the correct .com, .net, or
.org extension (excluding www.).
- Enter the Transfer Contact GKG Username - If the Transfer
Contact already has a GKG Username, it may be entered in the
existing username field. If the Transfer Contact does not have a GKG
Username, one must be created using the "Create New GKG Username" fields.
YOU SHOULD ENTER EITHER AN EXISTING GKG USERNAME OR THE INFORMATION
TO CREATE A NEW GKG USERNAME - YOU CAN NOT ENTER BOTH. Remember that
a GKG Username is SPACE and CASE sensitive. Also, the Transfer
Contact should also be either the Registrant, or an Authorized Agent
of the Registrant.
- Enter the Registrant Contact's GKG Username. If the Registrant Contact
already has a GKG Username, it may be entered in the existing
username field. If the Registrant Contact does not have a GKG Username,
one must be created using the "Create New GKG Username" fields.
YOU SHOULD ENTER EITHER AN EXISTING GKG USERNAME OR THE INFORMATION
TO CREATE A NEW GKG USERNAME - YOU CAN NOT ENTER BOTH. This contact
does not necessarily have to be the same as the one used with the current
Registrar. Remember that a GKG Username is SPACE and CASE sensitive.
- Enter valid credit card information for the transfers to be accepted.
- The Transfer Contact must indicate agreement to be bound by all GKG
Domain Registration policies and procedures.
WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE INFORMATION THAT I PROVIDE?
After the Transfer Contact completes the Automated Transfer Request Form,
the following will occur:
- The transfer contact will receive an email acknowledging receipt
of the transfer request by GKG.
- All CURRENT domain contacts will be sent a unique email from GKG
requesting authorization for the transfer. Because this is an automated
system, the contacts MUST follow the email instructions exactly. The
first contact to respond is used to approve or reject the transfer.
- Upon authorization of the transfer request by the first contact to
respond to GKG, the transfer will be submitted to the Registry. The
current Registrar may require that additional steps be taken to complete
the transfer (such as answering another authorization email). GKG cannot
control or change these requirements and they must also be followed
to the letter, to ensure your transfer is completed.
- After all transfer requirements have been met, the domain will transfer
to GKG - all domain contacts will be notified of the transfer's completion.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE DOMAIN REGISTRANT TRIES TO TRANSFER A DOMAIN BUT
AUTHORIZATION IS DENIED OR NO DOMAIN CONTACTS RESPOND?
If authorization is denied by any domain contact, the transfer will not
proceed. If the Registrant wishes to continue with the transfer, they must
contact the current domain contacts, and make sure they will allow the
request to go through. We recommend that you do this BEFORE you submit
your first Transfer Request. If this is not possible, then you must contact
GKG directly and proceed with the Manual Transfer Process because this
transfer is not appropriate for the Automated Transfer Request System.
WHAT HAPPENS WITH DOMAINS TRANSFERRED WITHOUT PROPER AUTHORIZATION?
If, at any time, a Registrant contacts GKG about a domain that was transferred
without authorization, GKG will:
- Verify that all policies and procedures were followed.
- Advise the Registrant that they must contact the previous Registrar
and request a transfer back to the previous Registrar.
- GKG will handle refunds on a case by case basis.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE LOSING REGISTRAR DENIES THE TRANSFER?
Loosing registrars may require that various actions be taken to complete
a transfer. This may include email authorization by specific existing contacts
within a short amount of time and other possible requirements. GKG has
no control over the transfer policies of our competitors. It is the responsibility
of the transfer contact to identify and complete the loosing registrar's
requirements.
WHAT DOES IT COST TO TRANSFER A DOMAIN TO GKG?
After the transfer is completed, one year will be added to the existing
expiration date of your domain (example: If your domain was to expire 1/31/03
before the transfer took place, it would expire 1/31/04 after the transfer
took place).
