GKG Consumer Alert(s)

Kama Sutra Worm (aka Nyxem.E, Grew.A, Blackmal.E, MyWife.D)

A potentially damaging worm is on the loose which may have a high payload IF you are not protected against it. Most, if not all, of the antiviruses have had provided protection within hours (in some cases) and days (in others). As long as you keep your antivirus up to date, you should be safe.

In summary, it comes initially in the form of an email attachment and promises access to sites (typically pornographic in nature). Upon accessing the file, it attempts to disable your antivirus software as well as your firewall. Then it tries to propagate itself to all entries in your addressboook as well as to other email addresses it finds on your hard drive. It replaces certain system files as well as adds/deletes/modifies/replaces other registry entries so that it will reinfect itself upon windows restart.

Its target date of attack is the 3rd of every month. Its intention is to delete all Office Documents (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access, etc) as well as Adobe files (PDF, photoshop, etc).

For more information regarding this worm including removal tools and instructions, direct your browser to one of the following sites, or simply call GKG.NET and make arrangements for us to disinfect or protect your system against such threats.
