Setting up Email in Outlook 2002 Tutorial


Step 1

You will need your email server settings to set up your email program. Please click here and enter your email address. Print or write down the information that is displayed for use during this walkthrough.



Step 2

Open Outlook Express.



Step 3

From the Tools menu, choose Accounts.
Note: If you have never configured, or used, your Outlook Express email program, at this point the Internet Connection Wizard will open automatically. In such a situation, go directly to step 5.



Step 4

Click the Add button and choose Mail.



Step 5

In the Display name field, type your full name.



Step 6

Click the Next button.



Step 7

In the E-mail address field, type your full email address (e.g., johndoe@gkg.net).

Click the Next button.

Click the down arrow on the My incoming mail is a ____ server drop-down list and choose POP3.

In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server field, type your Incoming mail server (POP) (as determined during step 1 of this walkthrough; if you have not followed this step, please click here ).

In the Outgoing Mail Server field, type in your SMTP (as determined in Step 1 of this walkthrough; if you have not followed this step, please click here ).

Click the Next button.

In the Account name field, type your account name.

In the Password field, type your email password.

Check the box next to Remember password if you wish to save your password.

Click the Next button.

Double-click your account in the Mail Accounts list.

Click on the Servers tab.

Check the box next to My server requires authentication.

Select Log on using.

In the Account Name field, type your account name.
